Commemorative Tree

At the last Parish Meeting it was explained that HDC were offering match funding for Parishes purchasing a bench to commemorate the anniversary of the First World War and the Suffragettes movement. We had agreed that FNH would fund the purchase of a tree instead, Grahame Spendlove-Mason is hopeful that this can now be funded directly by HDC and will follow up on our behalf.

Amazing turn of events at the Reading Room, as described below by Julie Guiver:

In order to make some room in the Reading Room store, it was suggested that the old band chairs were taken to the tip or left on the front so that people could help themselves. Great Glen Community Wildspace Events

The final natural history walk of the season takes place on Sunday 25th June.

Fortunately there are plenty of wildflowers, including orchids (photo of Bee Orchid shown), to look at this year and hopefully some recently fledged birds. If sunny we should also see some butterflies and dragonflies.

Newton Harcourt Maintenance

Newton Harcourt Maintenance

The Church gutters have now been cleaned out, with thanks to Martin Guiver and Keith Cooper.

As previously reported a group of villagers have started to clear some of the footpaths around the village. The jitty between The Square and Post Office Lane has now been doubled in width having removed 30 wheelbarrows full of soil and grass!
